BREVARD COUNTY, FL —For the first time in sports fishing history, anglers will converge on Florida’s central east coast to compete in the inaugural Space Coast International Surf Fishing Tournament being held on Memorial Day weekend, May 25-27, 2012. SportsPage Bar and Grill/Duke’s Smokehouse Barbeque in Satellite Beach, Florida will host both the pre-tournament Kickoff Party scheduled for the evening of Friday, May 25; and the post Tournament Awards Party on Sunday afternoon, May 27. The fishing days will take place on May 26 and May 27. A portion of the Space Coast International Surf Fishing Tournament proceeds will be donated to the Anglers for Conservation’s Marine Steward Program.
ENTRY FEE: BEFORE May 15 – $45 per adult; AFTER May 15 – $65 (15 and older); youth entry fee is $25. The tournament’s entry fee places you in all nine categories— flounder, snook, redfish, bluefish, pompano, black drum, whiting, shark and sheepshead. The entry fee does not place you in the Tarpon TWT. First 250 entries receive a Surf Angler Bag (valued $25)
A $1,000 cash prize will be awarded to the longest fish caught by a Shore Angler; and another $1,000 prize will be awarded to the angler winning the Paddle Angler. First, second and third place winners in the Youth Division will receive trophies and prizes.
A portion of the Space Coast International Surf Fishing Tournament proceeds will be donated to the Anglers for Conservation, a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to build a new generation of marine stewards using education, habitat restoration projects and applied conservation science.
