With regulations recently changing for Red Drum in Louisiana, nothing over 27 inches is allowed to be kept.

Caught two but the tail pinch kept me off the leader board and put the two beauties back in the water!
Pinching the tail of a redfish is a technique used to determine if the fish meets the minimum size limit for a legal catch. Redfish have a specific requirement for the size of the fish that can be kept, and the tail pinch test helps anglers determine if their catch is within the legal size range.

When you pinch the tail of a redfish, you're checking the length of the fish. If the fish is large enough, the tail will not meet or exceed the length of the fish's body when pinched. This method helps ensure that anglers are catching fish that meet the size regulations, which are in place to help conserve and manage fish populations.
