[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he big news for October is red snapper season will be open from October 1st through October 14th. You will certainly be able to find red snapper at almost any depth of water. This will be the first time in several years that all of our popular fish will be available at the same time. Enjoy fishing for grouper, amberjack, red snapper and much more. The amberjack bite has been tough at times but some large ones have been caught. I have seen some large vermillion snapper coming to the dock. These fish are very tasty and when you get two of them on the line they can give a little pull. Some nice triggerfish are also being caught. A few nice gag grouper and sometimes a red grouper are being caught in the deeper water.

Offshore trolling is good with blue water within 45 miles. This is a great time to fish for blue marlin, white marlin, mahi mahi, tuna and wahoo.

Nearshore fishing in October is usually good with king mackerel and Spanish mackerel. Bull redfish should appear by mid October. Trolling with spoons and sight fishing is a good method for targeting bull redfish. Bull redfish should continue to be around through very early spring.
