RICHMOND, VA – As a result of a recent water level issue at the U.S. Forest Service’s (USFS) Glen Alton Pond in Giles County, the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources was not able to stock the pond on the published dates for this Youth-Only Stocked Trout Water. The water level has returned to normal, and the pond was stocked on April 20. The pond will be stocked two more times before June 15, although the exact dates for those two remaining stockings have yet to be determined. However, youth anglers can see when the pond is stocked on DWR’s Daily Trout Stocking Schedule.
Also, the third youth-only trout stocking at USFS’s Two Ponds in Smyth County will now occur on May 30 instead of the previously published May 6. This is being done to accommodate a kid’s fishing event at Two Ponds. The event is being moved to this location given the continued drawdown at Beartree Lake.
More information regarding the kid’s fishing event at Two Ponds is available by calling the USFS Mount Rogers Office at (276) 783-5196.
