Bass Nation HS Championship | May 1st, 2016
Venue: Lake Okeechobee
The Florida BASS Nation High School Championship had a field of forty-three teams that qualified through-out the year for this two day event held on Lake Okeechobee at the renown Roland and Mary Ann Martin’s Marina and Resort in Clewiston Florida. The weather was picture perfect and the teams had a great time on the lake and at the resort.
After Day-1 the Team of Austin Chism and Jackson William of Auburndale lead the field with 23.14 lbs. In second place was the team of Brad Powell and Erik Van Dyke of Forest High with a weight of 19.39 lbs.
On Day-2, the Day-1 leaders Austin and Jackson boated another 16.24 lbs for a two day total of 39.38 lbs which kept them in First Place and took home the Florida High School Championship. In similar fashion the Day-1 second place team of Brad and Erik added another 10.48 lbs to their Day-1 total for a tournament total of 29.87 lbs which enabled them to retain their position and take home a second place finish. For third place the team of Fisher Omans and Logan Wright from Oviedo produced a 2nd day bag weight of 18.49 lbs for a final weight of 28.71 lbs which catapulted them eighteen places to take a third place finish.
All together all the teams did an outstanding job through-out the year and should be commended.
