Boston Scuba – Diving Report

By Jim Sullivan

We have had excellent conditions and a great group of divers so far this season. We went scallop diving and for open water checkout dives. The divers on scallop beds reported 43 Fahrenheit for water temperature and 15+ feet visibility. Everyone bagged up well for scallops as usual. A big gray seal was also sighted swimming around on the surface during scallop dives.

During the surface interval and lengthy scallop shucking session, Instructor Chris was doing the first open water checkout dives of the season in wetsuits at Calf Island.

We have been diving off of Graves Light for some more openwater checkout dives with beautiful surface conditions— sunny with air temperature in 80’s and water temperatures 43-46 Fahrenheit.

We have had an excellent 25-30 feet of visibility at Graves Light with lots of harbor seals on the rocks but no in-water sightings. Congratulations to Dee for completing her open water checkout, and in a wetsuit!
