Capt. Bradley Doyle Lake Conroe Fishing Report

Holy Crappie! Crappie are making a great comeback on Lake Conroe as the spawn is winding down and they fall into their post-spawn patterns. They can be found on brush piles from 5 to 25 feet in depth and caught with Minnows or any color jig. Large Bream can be caught along with the Crappie. Water temperature is over 70 degrees and Shad are spawning on the bulkheads.

Catfish are steady on baited holes but not exceptional, and can be caught at night or early in the morning as they feed on Shad on the bulkheads. Trophy Catfishing has been difficult as the water is warm and fish are spread out. Large Mouth Bass have been fairly good on everything from rattle traps to watermelon colored soft plastics in 2 to 10 feet of water, from bank lines out to the channel ledges or any kind of structure.
