CFOA (Central Florida Offshore Anglers) will be changing locations for their monthly meetings and socials. This local area fishing club has seen a lot of growth the past few years and it is a good thing, the members say. This family fishing organization sponsors lots of outdoor events, tournaments and are also very involved with many fishing conservation and habitat restoration projects. Each year the group holds an annual auction to raise money to help fund these local area projects. All the funds raised will be given back to our local fishing community either by donations for another Offshore Artificial Reef project or to community youth anglers clubs, and college tuitions. All of the members are volunteers and worked their tails off getting ready for this year’s auction event, the biggest turn-out and most successful in the Clubs long history!
With the CFOA growth over the last several years, finding a monthly venue that will hold the 45 to 60 attendees at the monthly social meetings can sometimes be difficult. The January 16th 2017, 6:30 pm meeting will be at the new location, Winter Park Community Center, 721 West New England Avenue, in downtown Winter Park. It will be a little more centrally located for the members as they had simply out grown the previous location at Carl Black’s Chevy / GMC in East Orlando. The added plus is there’s no construction to slow the traffic time getting there. The club hopes the new location will tempt more of the members and visiting public to attend the monthly socials. Guest speaker Captain Lee Noga will be conducting a “Winter Shrimping” seminar offering great tips and techniques for catching numbers and quality shrimp in our local area.
