Clarks Hill Linesides/Crappie

Fishing early in the morning on the lower end of the lake has been as good as it gets. Stacks of hybrids and stripers in a feeding frenzy are being found off of underwater islands, shoals and points in 35 to 40 feet of water on the bottom. Downlining live herring throughout the lower end of the lake from Parksville to the dam has produced cooler after cooler full of slab hybrids and 8- to 15-pound stripers. Double anchoring and cutbait fishing in 50 feet of water off of main-channel dropoffs has produced bigger stripers. It’s just a little bit slower of a bite. Within the next couple of weeks, we should be seeing schooling hybrids with stripers hiding underneath in the main channel around Parksville, Dordon Creek and Shriver Creek. Downlining herring underneath the schools and casting topwater plugs such as Sammys and Ice Flies will be very productive. Evening fishing has been pretty steady if a little slower than the morning bite, with nice fish being caught. But this should also pick up in the next couple of weeks, and the schooling fish will show up chasing bait.
