Hi Coastal Angler readers. It’s Capt. Rodney here from beautiful Chokoloskee Island FL. I hope you folks enjoyed my very first article in last month’s Coastal Angler. Fishing through this last month has been EPIC with great numbers of snook, redfish, and trout being caught, by both my anglers and myself. We have been producing snook just about everywhere that we cast our lures, which has allowed me to show my clients many different areas of the Everglades National Park that surrounds my Island.
Best producing lures continue to be various soft plastics such as D.O.A., ZMAN and MR. Wiffelure paddletails. I have been posting many videos of our Fishing Experiences on my Everglades Backcountry Experience Facebook page, so be sure to check them out. Also it is a great place to get lots of lure fishing tips that are bound to help you catch more fish on your next fishing adventure. Remember confidence is key when fishing with lures, so stay focused and don’t second guess your ability and you will make it happen. It is hard to go wrong with a 3” soft plastic paddle tail for just about anything that swims in the Florida waters. And in the videos on my Facebook page you will see 90+ percent of my trips are using soft plastic lures. So remember to stay confident and most of all have FUN.
Capt. Rodney Raffield is a 6th generation native of the Everglades area. If you would like to experience fishing this awesome place he calls his Backyard, he can be contacted at 239-695-4626 or email captrodney@centurylink.net. Best way to see what he does on
