This month’s Catch of the Month winner will receive a spot in the New England Ice Fishing Academy’s (NEIFA) Black Crappie ice fishing class. NEIFA is New England’s first and only comprehensive ice fishing school dedicated solely to ice fishing education. NEIFA classes are designed for anglers of all ages and skill level.
In the class, you will receive expert and detailed instruction about the species, how and where to find them through the ice, the gear used, proper fish handling, conservation, and ice safety. Emphasis will be placed on increasing the number of fish caught through the ice, particularly during the middle of the day when the bite is typically slow.
The two-day class will take place on January 22 and 23, 2016. Day one will consist of a two hour classroom session held at Bass Pro Shops in Hooksett, NH on Friday, January 22, 2016 from 6-8PM. Students will then have the opportunity to put their new skills to the test during a 4 hour on-ice practical session which will take place the next day on a (location TBD) central New Hampshire pond.
You will be provided with everything you need to participate, including: supplies for taking notes in class, rod and reel combos, lures, bait, electronics for locating fish, and a warming hut. Note: Students must supply their own food/drink, fishing license, and proper clothing. If that wasn’t enough, this class also comes with an invitation to the NEIFA student appreciation on-ice cookout on Lake Winnipesaukee in late March where we will provide burgers and hot dogs, and bottled water. Show up with your fishing equipment and fish, or just hang out and enjoy the food and atmosphere.
