For four strong years now, the Bluefin Blowout has been deemed a great success. This tournament, which is held each year at Cape Ann’s Marina in Gloucester, MA, awards $17,000 worth of cash prizes to one lucky angler who catches the largest Bluefin tuna. Last year, a total of 2,800 pounds of tuna was weighed in, as fishermen tried to beat one another with their mighty catches. And this year, we hope to see even more tuna caught and tried! With only 35 days to go, anglers are gearing up for the 2015 event, which is to be held from July 23rd-25th (check out www.bluefinblowout.com to view the tournament’s digital countdown clock, which is displayed on the front page of their website). Needless to say, the Bluefin Blowout continues to be a fun, event-filled competition. If you have yet to be a part of this tournament, what are you waiting for?
Of course, all of the thoughtful details surrounding this beloved tournament wouldn’t be made possible without the help from our fellow anglers. I’d like to take this time to say thank you to everyone who has contributed to this event. Without you, the Bluefin Blowout wouldn’t be dubbed the greatest tuna tournament in the Northeast!
