Don’t Know What to Do for Father’s Day?

Check out some cool experiences offered at Lion Country Safari

New Giraffe Encounter: Guests can observe one of the park’s giraffe paint a custom piece of artwork! By participating, guests can contribute to giraffe conservation and take home both a custom painting and an extraordinary memory.

The Giraffe Painting Encounter is a premium experience conducted in the mornings by Lion Country Safari’s training staff. Guests are able to feed the giraffe after the painting session has concluded. Each painting is completely unique, and guests are able to choose the paint colors for their custom piece of artwork.

Lion Country Safari staff train many of the animals at the park for husbandry and enrichment purposes; this entire process is voluntary for the animals. The Giraffe Painting Encounter is an opportunity for guests to become immersed in that process and to get an inside look into the park’s training program. Currently, four of Lion Country Safari’s giraffe are trained to paint, with one additional giraffe in the process of learning.

A portion of the proceeds from every Giraffe Painting Encounter goes to support wild giraffe conservation through the Giraffe Conservation Fund. Giraffe are currently listed as Vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Lion Country Safari cares for one of the largest herds of giraffe in the country and is proud to support giraffe conservation and survival.

Mingle with Flamingos: This immersive premium experience allows guests to get up close and personal with the flamingos, feed them, and take photos. A portion of the proceeds from the flamingo experience will go to support wildlife conservation efforts.

Caribbean flamingos are generally listed as “Least Concern” by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), although habitat destruction is a potential threat to the species. Caribbean flamingos can be found throughout the islands and mainland coasts of the Caribbean Sea. Flamingos are extremely social birds, living in flocks numbering from a few dozen to up to hundreds of thousands in breeding season. Flamingos are also known for displays of unique courtship dances and vocalizations. Lion Country Safari is home to 19 Caribbean flamingos.
