This week I had the opportunity to fish with South Mississippi Charters 228- 860-9103 located in Gulfport, Mississippi. South Mississippi Charters is owned and operated by Captain Starlin Lanier. He runs two boats, a 42 foot Bertram named Pleasure Bound and a 26 foot Proline with dual motors named King O Ling. Since Captain Starlin owns two different boats, he can accommodate a large variety of fishing needs. Choices become especially nice when planning fishing trips. Any one thatâs ever planned a trip knows that some people (in my case relatives) will drop out in the last minute or want to be added on.
The day I went fishing we took out the 42 foot Bertram. The first thing as always, I checked out the boat for safety. For no reason, will I ever recommend a charter boat that is not safe. Riding aboard the Pleasure Bound was just as the name implies, a pure pleasure. Make no mistake about it, I ride on a lot of fishing boats, by far and away it’s the smoothest one I have been on yet. The Pleasure Bound can fish six people with ease. I like a lot of fishing space and this boat has it. If you are taking a family fishing or having a corporate event then you canât go wrong chartering the Pleasure Bound. The Pleasure Bound has galley, shower, and a working head (bathroom) not to mention couches with a flat screen TV. Letâs face it, not everybody can take hard core fishing and all the bouncing around that goes with it. When itâs really hot, having air conditioning for the ride home is a godsend. As we came in the waves picked up between two and three foot, aboard the Pleasure Bound we never noticed.
