Flagler Palm Coast March Fishing Report
The cold is turning to warmth and the bait fish are starting to flush out to the open flats. Finding the schools of bait is the key to finding game fish like redfish, trout and flounder. Working the bait fish schools with soft plastic baits like slayer inc paddle tails rigged on a 1/4 oz jighead or a 5 inch jerk bait on a weedless hook slowly jigged will trigger a bite.
During low tides freeline a live shrimp on a 1/0 Daiichi circle hook through deeper creek holes where trout will be hiding ambushing bait. This is Gator Trout time. Spawning season for Trout. Some of the largest are caught this time of year. As the tide gets higher move over to the oyster bars to find black drum using live or dead shrimp weighted down on the bottom.
