Fly of the Month: February 2016

FebFOTM

Stoneflies are an abundant food source for both steelhead and trout during the winter months. As we transition into spring they will become even more prevalent as they begin to hatch in prolific numbers. The rubber legs on this pattern will twitch, quiver, and flutter in very erratic ways, often triggering a fish to smash it. Steelhead seem to prefer flies with a very prominent eye. The orange ice dub contrasts nicely and makes the eye stand out on this bug. Fish this fly underneath a float and prepare to get ROCKED.
