Freshwater Fishing Report – Lake Alfred – Auburndale – Winter Haven Areas. By: Ron Schelfo

Bass are practically jumping in the boat!  We’re seeing lots of nice bass in the 5 to 11-pound range lately.  This is the time of year that you’ll find those bigger ones as shown in the photo of Tammy Rakusan who recently reeled in a 26-inch 11.3-pound beauty right here in Lake Alfred on Lake Alfred.  The abundance of large bass this time of year is due to their spawning season.  We recently weighed in three bass over 11 pounds–one here in Lake Alfred out of Lake Rochelle. The Lake Rochelle catch was brought in on a live shiner and the other two out of Lake Alfred were snagged on a Booyah “One Knocker” in royalty color. This is the one I recommend all the time–it’s the best!

Lake Alfred is not only having great bass results of up to 11 pounds, but is still seeing good results on specs.  Best reporting lakes in Lake Alfred are Alfred, Rochelle, Haines, Echo and Swoope.

Over in the Auburndale area, Lakes Ariana and Juliana are seeing lots of smaller bass up to four pounds.  At this time, we don’t have reports of large bass there yet.  Ariana and Juliana are still experiencing great reports on specs. Juliana is also still seeing many shell crackers mixed in. Shell crackers seem to be hitting early this year

Moving on to the South Winter Chain, great reports are coming in from Lakes Shipp, Cannon and Summit where we’re seeing big bag limits on bass.  The recommendations are to fish the mouth of the canals.  These lakes are also experiencing excellent spec fishing.

Our central Florida area is just the best place to fish!  Call me (or better yet come by) and I’ll point you in the right direction. Giving you the best daily first-hand information.  We carry an extensive inventory and have what you need to catch those big ones.

After serving our fishing community for the past 20 years, Ron’s Tackle Box Weekly Bass Tournaments have now ended.  We’ll still be hosting “Special” Tournaments from time to time. Stay tuned for future developments.  Our goal has always been to host bass tournaments that are honest, provide great fishing, and offer a family-friendly environment. W We will continue to do so.
