Golfito Fishing Forecast for September and October 2016

Golfito Fishing Forecast for September and October 2016

Offshore the Marlin bite is historically very strong. The Blues and Blacks should continue to dominate the action however if last year is a guide the Stripes come on stronger as the date progresses. Those interested in an IGFA Super Slam will want to book an overnight trip to the deep offshore Seamounts and FAD’s now to get in on the bite. The biggest change to the offshore storyline should be the influx of the largest Yellowfin Tuna of the year. Yellowfin up to 150 lbs. will test the skill and stamina of even the most experienced angler. The Spinner Dolphins as usual will be the tell.

Inshore the Golfo Dolce Rooster fishing should remain ideal. We had fish recently in the 60 lbs. range attacking live Bonito baits at the Rock if the ever aggressive Cubera Snappers didn’t get them first. Capt. Beto on the super panga INTA is the acknowledged Golfito specialist at this game. He can be contacted at Fishhook or Banana Bay marinas in Golfito, Costa Rica.
