The Grand River is the place to be for big catches of steelhead in the winter time. Use a ShagNasty custom float with a 1/16 or a 32 ounce jig tipped with wax worms and you will see your bobber go down. A lot of anglers also float and bounce spawn as well in the deep holes. Use pink and chartreuse for best results. With the top of the dam being locked up with ice below the dam is prime fishing. The further you go down river the more slush and ice you are going to get. The walleye in the Grand River are everywhere. Using light line 4 to 6 pound test and a Buck Tail jigs, jig and minnow, White Twister tails, 3 to 4 inch Paddle Tails and Clown Husky Ferks will land you some fish. Not just a few, you will limit out if you work the slow water and seams.

Reeds Lake is a full go with perch 8 to 14 inches in 30 to 40 foot water. You’ll want to use Swedish pimples tipped with a wax worm, wigglers, or minnows. A few guys will even use perch rigs and just set it on the bottom. The monster pike are all over in reeds. Use a sucker minnow of the edge of the weed line and drop offs and you will have flags going up everywhere. Bluegills are 15 to 40 foot deep. There catching them on tear drops with spikes or wax worms right off the bottom. Crappie anglers on Reeds Lake fill up their freezer fast. Try night time fishing with a lantern by the sunken island or in 40 foot of water suspending your lure or live bait 15 feet down. Bait of choice is crappie minnows.
