Lake Lanier Crappie Fishing Report: Oct 2013

by tracy Tompkins

Water temperatures are in the 70s and cooling down quickly. The crappie are biting great. Wahoo Creek and Little River are producing slot-sized fish. We are catching them in 6 to 25 feet of water, fishing our baits at a depth of 4 to 15 feet. Early morning tightlining is a technique that is producing fish from good eating size to larger slabs. Later in the day, the docks and brushpiles are producing good fish. Watch your electronics, and look for schools of fish. Be prepared when you find them with plenty of bait. Jig colors that will produce fish are the Jiffy Jig #41 in red/white/chartreuse and Jiffy Jig #05 in orange glow/green/chartreuse. We have been catching a few walleye while trolling for crappie. Nighttime fishing is still a great time to catch fish around Wahoo Bridge. Stay safe and give us a call. Let’s go fishing.
