Lake Okeechobee Fishing Forecast – November

As November water temperature continues to cool off, the pre-spawn largemouth bass feed up before heading into the shallows to stage. When bass are in pre-spawn mode typically you can catch them on artificial lures ranging from hard top-water lures like a devil’s horse or spook, to slow rolling spinner baits, or working a worm slowly across the bottom. Areas to look for bass activity will be the north shore of the lake, Monkey box, Horse Island, Indian Prairie, Tin House; 2nd point and areas on Kings Bar and Grassy. Lure color choices for plastics: red-shad, black-blue, watermelon-red, Okeechobee craw and June bug. For hard bait colors: shad, brown or black w/ chartreuse, crawdad and baby bass.

October usually depicts the time to fish open water schools of crappie but the weather pattern didn’t cool the water. November crappie fishing in open-water for schools of crappie you can drift or slow troll with live minnows or small jigs tipped with minnows. Varying the speed with your trolling motor and changing weight sizes will determine how deep in the water column the baits ride. Change your bait depth and lure colors until the fish tell you what they want. Many anglers are using Road Runners that are shad looking in color with great results. Areas to look for crappie (specks) can be around the north shore of the lake.
