Large and Bountiful

Capt. Christina Kraus

November is here. We are so thankful to be in Naples; the waters have been crystal clear and sight fishing is in full swing. Backwater fishing in Naples is good year round, let’s face it, that’s part of the reason we live here! We have been seeing a nice variety of backwater fish. The drum are floating around, which is a sight to see! They can almost pass for redfish when they get together! It definitely calls for a double take when you see them in the clear waters. These fish are so much fun and make some neat drumming noises. The ones we have been seeing have been very large and traveling with the schools of redfish.  Some so big that they had foot long remora fish clinging to them! The mullet are around in thick schools and they seem to have these guys in tow! The oversized fish are amazing in the Naples during the winter time! Crab pots are out and that means the Tripletail will be coming around, another awesome fighting fish! The water temperatures are cooling down and we are looking forward to a beautiful December. This is when our weather is absolutely unbeatable! Sunny and 75° with cool mornings and evenings. Come and see what Naples has to offer and fish our beautiful waters!
