New England Coastal Lighthouse Stamps: An Angler’s Favorite

stamps Why talk about collector stamps in a fishing magazine? Well, the gem in this series of five stamps is none other than our beloved Boston Light. Boston Light sits prominently on Little Brewster Island just outside of Boston Harbor warning captains of the impending dangers of the surrounding islands. While most captains give the light a wide berth, others are drawn to the beacon like moths to a porch light on a hot summer’s night. On any given day you might notice anglers holding up their prized catch in front of this historic landmark adding that something extra to a memory of a lifetime. If Boston Light is too far to run, don’t worry, the harbor is full of other great landmarks just waiting to assist in your photographic creativity. Some of the more popular spots include Graves Light, Nix’s Mate, Deer Island, the Boston skyline and the Long Island Bridge. If you are worried about giving up “Your Spot” because your catch is a little too close to the landmark, you can always frame a nice picture by a channel marker on the way back into the dock.
