New and Improved Naples City Dock on the Way

As of May 1, 2017, Naples City Dock at 880 12th Ave. S. has been closed for major reconstruction. The picturesque dock system, established in 1920, is a major tourist attraction, currently home to 18 fishing and sailing charter vessels, as well as many privately-owned boats, and also supplies fuel to its leaseholders and transients.

The reconstruction includes disposal of aging wooden fixed docks, over-water structures and wooden fend-off piles, the addition of new concrete floating docks, installation of an IPE fixed dock and new over-water buildings. When completed, Naples City Dock will be one of the nest in Southwest Florida.

During construction, leaseholders will relocate to nearby Landings Park, Naples Bay Resort, Wharf Tavern and Isle of Capri. As for advertising during the renovations, since many of the publications routinely used by Naples’ tourist trade are seasonal, businesses might not list their temporary location and are hoping that prospective customers will phone, check their websites or signage near the dock for updates.

Harbor Master Roger Jacobsen, sensitive to these waterfront businesses’ bottom line, has devised a brilliant plan for the construction to be done in two phases. Phase A will encompass the charter boat section and fuel dock, with a ready-for- use completion target of December 15. When these boats have settled back in, section B will be completed shortly thereafter.
