Palm Beach In and Offshore: June 2020

By Capt. Weston Russell, Contributing Writer

Welcome to the Coastal Angler Magazine fishing forecast for June. Expect an epic bite north of Palm Beach Inlet. The water off the Juno Pier will hold snapper, monster kingfish and cobia to name a few. Live scale bait will be the winning ticket. The morning bite will be your best bet. Fish the water depth from 80’ -140’. For the dolphin bite, you will need to head offshore and look for floating structure. Tune your VHF to channel 19 for the offshore report. Feel free to call out to any boats out in the deep to get info on weed line depths. Most boaters will call you back… Good luck!

Check out this ocean houndfish, it took a kite bait off Palm Beach Inlet.

For the near shore anglers, the beaches and the inlets will be holding high jumping tarpon and fat snook. Once again, live bait is a must. Light leaders and strong hooks will hold them to the reel. If you get a tarpon on, start the boat up fast…. you’re in for a Reel Intense fight!

Let’s talk about swordfishing. There has been some big fish caught off Palm Beach the last few months. If heading out, remember that p.m. storms can start up and get big fast. Some can have 40mph wind speeds. Please give yourself plenty of time to get back to shore. Don’t forget to bring a harpoon. There have been monsters landed out there and you just don’t know when you’re going to get that bite. Stay safe and tight lines!
