Kayak Report: July 2013

Summer is here! Get out to fish early and late in the day to beat the heat. Fishing the flats at these times has resulted in some good trout and reds lately. My best results for trout have come from fishing Sebile stick shads and MirrOlure top dog Jr.’s. The fish have been more aggressive and I am speeding up my retrieval. With the reds I am going with saltwater assassin plastic sea shads on a 1/8 oz. pro-elite jig head or an Aqua dream spoons. I am fishing these baits slow up near the grass lines where the reds tend to troll looking for a quick meal. Jul 1st, 2013

Shore & Pier Report: July 2013

“Hotter than a 4th of July firecracker” usually describes the weather this month for the shore bound angler from Orange Beach to Dauphin Island. But savvy anglers willing to wake up well before daylight and get their fishing in before the sun rises high and scorches the crowds of beachgoers arriving by 9am often have plenty of room and more comfortable conditions in which to fish.Jul 1st, 2013

Dauphin Island Fishing Forecast: July 2013

July is here that means RODEO TIME! The Alabama Deep Sea Rodeo is upon us, and that means hot weather and hot fishing. The fishing will continue to be hot while dodging pop up showers. The speckled trout should start moving to the north more than they have so far this summer and will continue to be more abundant. Jul 1st, 2013

Mobile Bay Fishing Forecast: July 2013

Well folks, the hot summer is upon us and so is the fishing!! The lower end of the bay has been on fire for trout and tripletail. All the usual places, the gas rigs and wrecks in the bay and in Mississippi sound are holding some good trout. The usual summer pattern is in play. Slip cork fishing the rigs and wrecks with live shrimp or croaker is working really well.Jul 1st, 2013
