2020! As we begin a new year we reflect on 2019 and learn from our experiences! November and December were absolutely beautiful, sunny and 75° and the fishing was spectacular! A few cold fronts here and there but we have to say, possibly some of the best fishing our area has seen in years! The abundance of redfish has really been outstanding! A few weeks ago we had a charter land on a day when one of the first cold fronts came thru and we were a little nervous. Would we find bait, would we have a decent bite, where to start when the weather isn’t quite cooperating? Positive attitude is everything, once we got bait in the rain and then it was actually raining on the ride in from getting bait to pick up our clients. Once on board we went out to the first spot. On the very first cast our youngest client caught a 29” redfish. It put up an amazing fight trying to take him under the mangroves and then back out and under the boat. He fought the fish, outsmarting him in the end. We went on to catch redfish after redfish, so many I think they almost got bored catching them! Following up with a few nice snook was a bonus, but what an awesome day to get so many reds. Some of the best fishing is on those bad weather days you aren’t expecting to do well.
