From the Publisher – December 2019

December is sure to bring us some of the best opportunities to get tight with an acrobatic sailfish. With each passing cold front, we will see more and more spindle beaks migrating through our local waters. One of the great things about sailfish is that we don’t have to travel too far offshore to find them as the majority of fish will be cruising in depths of 80 to 150 feet. Kite fishing is certainly the most effective and exciting technique for catching sailfish, but other techniques work too. As long as you have access to live bait and a boat or kayak, you can get in on the action. Conventional or spinning outfits in the 20 to 30 pound range, some 30 to 40 pound fluorocarbon leader and a few 4/0 to 7/0 circle hooks are all you need to get hooked up.

This month closes out our third year as the publisher of Coastal Angler Fort Lauderdale. We would like to take the opportunity to thank all of our valued advertising and distribution partners. Without them, it would not be possible to produce and distribute our free monthly publication. We would also like to thank all our readers for their continued support. Moving forward, we would like to encourage our readers to let us know if there are any topics that you would like to see us cover or how we can improve the magazine.

Finally, we would like to wish all of you the very best for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Keep reelin,
