From the Publisher – July 2018

Over the course of the last few months, we’ve had the opportunity to get involved with some local tournaments. At captains meetings and after parties, we’ve been able to meet and get to know many of our readers. One of the most common things I hear is, “You must get to fish all the time.” The truth is that I don’t get to fish nearly as much as I would like to. Publishing a magazine is not all it may seem cracked up to be. Today is Father’s Day and I would much rather be out fishing with my two sons, but deadlines are deadlines. Instead, we are putting the finishing touches on our July editions for Fort Lauderdale and Miami. Hopefully, we can get out a few days in the coming week. After that, it’s back to the grind. The new magazines will be arriving and the distribution process begins. As distribution begins, a new sales cycle begins. Without advertising sales, it’s not possible to print and distribute a free magazine. Did I mention Editorial? Articles don’t write themselves, ads don’t design themselves and coordinating a team of contributing writers takes up a lot of time. With all of that said, I’ve come to the realization that I can’t do it all and it’s time bring on some sales help. Please allow me to introduce and welcome our new Sales Reps, Paula Montesarchio and Abraham Gutierrez. Paula will be handling Broward County and Abraham will be handling Miami-Dade County. I look forward to working with you both to grow our free publication.

Keep reelin,
