From the Publisher – March 2020

This month we are proud to announce that we have added two new sections of local content. Thanks to a new partnership with our friends at the Broward Chapter of CCA Florida, we have added a new monthly column that we are calling Conservation Corner. Conservation Corner will provide up to date information on our local ecosystems, environment and habitat restoration efforts. We have also added the South Florida Boat Mart in an effort to provide a low cost advertising option for both individuals and boat dealers to advertise boats and boating related products to our readership. For a limited time, we are offering a “Buy 3 Months, Get 1 Free” promotion. For more information, shoot us an email or give us a call.

Fishing in March should be really good as the blackfin tuna have already started to show up in good numbers with some bigger fish mixed in. Blackfin tuna can be caught at any time of the day, but tend to bite best in low light conditions. If you are trolling, be sure to have a few small bullet type lures or feathers in your spread. For the bigger fish, nothing beats drifting a live pilchard. Use a 20 to 30 pound spinning outfit with at least six feet of 30 to 40 pound fluorocarbon attached to the main line with a small swivel. Use a loop knot to tie a 3/0 to 5/0 live bait hook to the business end. Send your offering way out from the boat to give yourself the best shot of hooking up with a butterball.

Keep reelin,
