Quest for the Crest Sailfish Series

True champions don’t make pit stops in victory lane – they live there. That is the concept upon which the new ‘Quest for the Crest’ Sailfish Series was founded. Produced by veteran tournament promoter, Bluewater Movements, this iconic series is expected to host some of the best billfishing teams on the face of the planet. Teams competing in the series will compete for an anticipated purse of more than $1,000,000. However, the most sought after award won’t come in the form of a cash prize.

These offshore warriors will be on a quest to claim what is destined to become the most coveted award in all of Sailfishing – The Crest. Consider it competitive fishing’s ‘Green Jacket’, only it’s not green. In order to don this coat of arms, a team must emerge as the most dominant crew among an elite field, in 3 highly competitive tournaments, in 3 different locations across South Florida. Much like Nascar’s ‘Sprint Cup’, teams in the Quest for the Crest series will accumulate points on their mission to claim the Crest. The points will be awarded based on where they place in each tournament.

“Privilege is Earned,” said series director, Jamie Bunn. That is the motto that resides on the scroll of the crest. “Team’s who earn this prestigious title won’t do it by accident, said Bunn. It’s an exclusive club, reserved for the most dominant team in the sport.”

OPERATION SAILFISH

Leg 1 of the series, Operation Sailfish, will be held in Singer Island (West Palm Beach) at the historic Sailfish Marina. With room accommodations on property, a full service marina with near 100 slips and waterfront dining, Sailfish Marina offers a perfect fit for the Palm Beach based leg of the series. Operation Sailfish will be held December 12-16, with a kickoff party on the 12th, 2 days of fishing on the 14th & 15th and an awards ceremony on the 16th.

THE SAILFISH CHALLENGE

Leg 2 of the series, The Sailfish Challenge, boasts its status as the largest Sailfish tournament in the country. The Sailfish Challenge has a unique 3-inlet format, however, the IGFA Hall of Fame in Ft. Lauderdale is home base for the tournament. Considered the Taj Mahal of Sportfishing, the IGFA is a landmark location for the Sailfish Challenge. The tournament dates are February 7-10 with a kickoff party on the 7th, fishing on the 9th and awards ceremony at Blue Moon Fish Company on the 10th.

JIMMY JOHNSON’S NATIONAL BILLFISH CHAMPIONSHIP

The final leg of the series, Jimmy Johnson’s National Billfish Championship, takes place at the Big Chill at Fisherman’s Cove in Key Largo, FL. Flip Flops are not required, but definitely encouraged at this final stop for the series. The teams will join Jimmy Johnson and other A-list celebrities to see who will claim Jimmy’s National Billfish Championship rings and the coveted ‘Quest for the Crest’ series champion title! The tournament is held March 6-10 with fishing on the 8th and 9th.
