This year’s Fishing Classic combines the 42st Annual Stuart Sailfish Club Small Boat Tournament and the 28th Annual Ladies Tournament.
While everyone fishes the same day, only a small boat (35 ft. or under) can win the Top Small Boat Award. And, while ladies can fish on any size boat, only a Member Lady Angler can win the Polly Whippen Memorial Trophy. Men, ladies, and juniors can fish on any size boat and will compete for 1st-3rd total points for sailfish, cobia, dolphin, kingfish, and wahoo in each respective division. Anglers can use live bait, for sailfish release, and live bait catches will be credited with 25 points, while dead bait catches will count for 50 points.
Proceeds from the Small Boat Fishing Tournament benefit the Stuart Sailfish Club Scholarship Program. The Scholarship Program’s goal is to ensure the conservation of our precious coastal resources for future generations, and scholarships are awarded annually to one student from each Martin County school entering a field of endeavor in the area of Marine Sciences.
