TBF-FLW HIGH SCHOOL FISHING TOURNAMENT | January 17, 2016
Venue: Lake Okeechobee – Kissimmee River
Gail force winds and heavy rains forced a one-hour delay and a change of venue from Lake Okeechobee to the confines of the Kissimmee River. That did not prevent the team of Jacob Smith and Daniel Clark of Travelers Rest, SC from posting a 5-fish bag limit of 26.5 lbs to capture the season’s first Southeastern Regional Conference Qualifying Event. With heavy rain runoff mudding the river the boys looked for clean water and found it in a drainage ditch that dumped into the canal off the main river. Using Livingston Crankbaits in Guntersville Craw color, they reeled in the tournament’s Big Bass weighing 12.06 lbs and another weighing just over 10 lbs. What’s even more impressive was this one-day bag limit was the heaviest weight for the entire weekend which included the 3-day Costa FLW professional tournament held on Lake Okeechobee.
Congratulations to the boys!
