Trout fishing should be good at places like Bear Point, Pete Stone Creek to the south and Harbor Branch and the Torpey Road area to the north. Try using top water baits like a Zara Spook in natural colors or a Chug Bug in a bright color. August maybe the best month all year to dive the Treasure Coast since seas remain calm and warm and lobster season gets underway. Clear water should also be expected at most dives spots in our area including the shallow sites off local beaches, all the way out to the reefs and wrecks offshore. In years gone by, August was my favorite month to fish “The Inlet”. Snook will be stacked on top of one another and the big reds will be wherever they can find room. Live bait, including croakers, pigfish, greenies, pinfish, shrimp, in that order, will be the key to daytime inlet action. Night fishing can also be great, whether you drift through the bridge with live bait, or chuck plugs or bucktail jigs from the rocks.
