Tim’s Ford Fishing Report: Jan 2014

Over the past month my clients enjoyed a good jig, crankbait and Carolina rig bite in 10 to 25 feet of water. While I’m not a big live bait angler, floating creek chubs or tuffy minnows is another excellent way to catch giant smallmouth on Tim’s Ford in the winter. Water temperatures dropped to the 46-50 degree range, moving smallmouth and stripers alike to mid lake points and creeks. Crappie action is good on docks and brush in the 10-20 feet of water range. Concentrate early on main lake points working your way back into pockets a short distance looking for balls of shad on your electronics. Probing deeper points and flats with SPRO Little John DD crankbaits, Missile Baits Fuse 4.4 on a Carolina Rig and Tightline Football Head jigs are a great way to locate a monster fish. As a reminder, please wear your PFDs and beware of your surroundings, boating accidents can happen to anyone! Make your reservations now for some great winter and early spring action on Guntersville or Tim’s Ford. We supply all fishing gear, rods, reels, lures, including A-rigs at no additional costyou, Military Discount and 100% dedication to making your trip successful. “Let’s go fish’ in”
