Tony C’s Sports Bar & Grill- A Scratch Kitchen with something for everyone
By Coastal Angler Staff
Tony C’s Sports Bar & Grill has opened its first location at Assembly Row in Somerville. With an array of seating options and a scratch kitchen featuring fresh, mainly local, ingredients, Tony C’s has quickly become home base to sports fans, families and professionals alike. The 11,000 square-foot, baseball-themed venue prides itself on: having the best American comfort food around, offering the greatest sports viewing locale in town and featuring a spirit and motif that honor the legacy of Red Sox legend and Massachusetts native, Tony Conigliaro.
Embodying the classic, retro feel of Fenway Park, Tony C’s Somerville features open-faced brick walls punctuated with black and white photographs while going above-and-beyond the traditional sports bar theme with its 90 state of the art TVs and sleek, ultramodern design. Tony C’s offers the best of both worlds; sports fans have front-row seats to every game with the restaurant’s four-sided Jumbotron TV display and for a more intimate experience, a dining area is positioned away from the bar on an elevated platform. A wall of sliding glass doors make it possible to open the bar, dining room and private dining – to an outdoor patio overlooking the Mystic River, which traces the outline of the restaurant and seats up to 144 guests.
The restaurant is the ultimate destination for your next event. Touting an expansive private dining space featuring waterfront views with its floor-to-ceiling glass doors, an epic AV system and a mosaic of television screens, this space fits any occasion whether it is a birthday celebration or a corporate gathering. A massive, lighted marquee of Tony C’s number 25 spans the dining room ceiling and serves as one of the restaurants most notable characteristics.
The high-volume establishment offers a fresh, made-from-scratch, culinary style, which includes small touches like hand-cut French fries and house-made dressings. Regional dishes from around the country like the New Orleans Shrimp (pan seared Tiger shrimp, spicy Creole sauce, grilled sourdough) and Philly Cheese Steak Wontons (slow roasted steak shaved thin, a mix of three cheeses, frizzled onions, Tony’s secret sauce) accompany a menu of traditional American fare. Two of the signature dishes, named appropriately to honor “Tony C,” are the #25 Burger (Vermont Cheddar cheese, smoked BBQ sauce, crispy pork belly, fried egg, sesame brioche bun) and the Chicken Conigliaro (pan seared chicken, lemon white wine sauce, capers). Tony C’s has committed to creating unique, daily specials to ensure that there is always something new for guests to enjoy.
General Manager Bonnie Fleischer is a born-and-raised Bostonian, growing up in Jamaica Plain, she now lives in Cambridge; Bonnie grew up recognizing Tony C as a hometown hero. After spending upwards of ten years in the hospitality industry, Fleischer believes that even the smallest of details can contribute to creating a lasting memory for guests; with a team of nearly 200 employees, she is equipped to provide an experience unlike any other in the area.
