The Backcountry Fishing Association’s 2016 season top ten teams the association’s October Classic Tournament on October 1, out of Little Jim Bridge Bait and Tackle in Fort Pierce. Plenty of fish were weighed, checks disbursed, and prizes awarded.
The Team of the Year winners with a total of 37 points for the 10-month BCFA circuit were Josh Partin and Donnie Gribble, both of Vero Beach. They each took home a Yeti 45-quart cooler. Partin and Gribble also were the Biggest Slam of the Year winners with their redfish, snook and trout weight combination of 17.21-pounds. This honor earned each of them Flambeau Outdoors Saltwater Tackle Boxes. The Biggest Redfish of the year and the Biggest Snook of the year winner was Josh Partin, of Vero Beach, for his 6.83-pound redfish and 9.75-pound snook, which earned him two Star Rods and two Shimano Reels.
Matt Schorner and Jeff Schorner, both of Fort Pierce, took second place in the Classic and earned $642 for their 4.27-pound redfish and 1.71-pound trout. Andy Beene and Andy Fantini, both of Fort Pierce, placed third and took home a cash prize of $428 for their 3.03-pound redfish and 1.93-pound trout.
