Stanley & Ward Share Top Honors
What a beautiful morning we had for our first Surf Fishing Contest on March 3rd; it was also our first Parents Contest. We had a total of 24 anglers and 37 fish caught, and most were released. The fish on the target list were bluefish, bonnet-head shark, croaker, pompano, sand perch, snook, Spanish mackerel and whiting. We had several fish caught that were not on the list, like ladyfish, jacks, flounder and a big blue crab.Taylor Meding caught a 1 pound, 7ounce flounder and Chad Stanley caught the only pompano. The whiting that DJ Markowski caught, and Taylor Meding’s flounder, were firsts for each of them. DJ also caught the big blue crab.
Middle School Division
- 1st place – Savannah Ward – Forest Grove – Ft. Pierce – 2lb. 1oz. bluefish
- 2nd place – DJ Markowski – Forest Grove – Ft. Pierce – 1lb. 9oz. whiting
- 3rd place – Scott Smith – Forest Grove – Ft. Pierce – 1lb. 8oz. bluefish
High School Division
- 1st place – Chad Stanley – Martin County – Palm City – 1lb. 2oz. bluefish
- 2nd place – Helen Kinchen – Port St. Lucie – Port St. Lucie – 14oz. whiting
- 3rd place – John Remsburg – Martin County – Palm City – 8oz. croaker
Biggest fish of the tournament went to Savannah Ward for her bluefish. She received an autographed copy of Capt. Ron Presley’s book Secrets from Florida’s Master Anglers, a $20 gift card to White’s Tackle and a Treasure Coast Casters decal.

Volunteer Award
Our volunteer award went to Wayne Wilson; he has brought his boat down from Maryland in December for the last 5 years and volunteered for the inshore tournaments until April. Also, thank you to Jim Flynn, Theresa Gilson and John Gilson.
