[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he weather for the March tournament, held March 20, was kind of sketchy as the boats left the dock at Capt. Joe’s Bait and Tackle in Fort Pierce at 7:15 a.m. Because we had to reschedule tournament from the week before, everyone had their fingers crossed that we could get it in and we did! We had a total of ten different species of fish on our list but it seemed that big jacks were everywhere.
In the Middle School Division, Michael Rochedieu caught and released his first goliath grouper, a short snook and a 10-pound jack. Kaitlyn Ward had a Spanish mackerel, jacks and a 5.7-pound black drum.
In the High School Division, Andrew Evans had a nice snapper along with a few other fish not on the list fish. Paulina Hafner caught a jack that was close to 10-pounds. Ty Walker had a 1.5-pound trout, as well as a couple of jacks. And, Savannah Ward had a sheepshead, a 5-pound black drum, as well as a ladyfish and jack.
