Many baits have come and gone, but some hold true, being proven as great go-to baits when it comes to bass fishing—like the spinnerbait/buzz bait, the lizard/Senko, or the ever-popular Rat-L-Trap-style baits.
No matter the trend, things are always evolving in the fishing world, which brings us to my topic in this article: the new Urchin-style baits flooding the market right now. With different colors, styles, and sizes, along with different variations like its cousin, the dice bait, there is no shortage of choices. No doubt by now, I’d say every bait shop in the U.S. has at least one in their shop.
Although no one is quite sure what the bait mimics in freshwater—and really, who cares? Judging by the effectiveness of these baits, it looks as if the urchin-style baits will become one of those trusted go-to baits for many anglers. Long story short, fish love them, and I see them becoming even more evolved as time goes on.
So, would I say this is a fad bait or a trending bait? Yes, yes, I would! But I will add that this bait is flat-out smashing the bass, and I would not be surprised if it were eventually mass-produced by most of the well-known bait makers in the world.
Until next time, remember to get up, get out there, and enjoy all that our Creator has given us.
Tight lines!
