Updates from the Blue Marlin World Cup!
Just a reminder: all entries for the July 4, 2016 World Cup must be in by no later than 5 p.m. (EST) on July 2, 2016. Enter at bluemarlinworldcup.com.
Entries are on par for this time of the year so a strong fleet of participating boats is expected. This one-day, winner-take-all shootout takes place on July 4 each year. Teams fish for eight hours in their respective time zones for blue marlin, and there’s a minimum weight of 500 pounds to qualify.
Tournaments in the Bahamas and other areas are already well underway. There has been great fishing and several marlin over 500 pounds have already been caught in tournaments in North Carolina and in the Gulf of Mexico. Blue marlin activity should continue to increase in the next couple of months.
The World Cup will be broadcast live on Facebook using the Live Broadcast feature. Updates will be broadcast every three hours beginning at 6 a.m. on July 4. Be sure to tune in, ask questions and interact with the event through social media. The broadcasts will continue as fishing occurs across the world. Participating teams are also encouraged to post their team information, photos, updates and fishing reports on the Blue Marlin World Cup Facebook page at
