[dropcap]W[/dropcap]e have already seen signs of spring down here in Venice. We have been catching schoolie Yellowfin Tuna on poppers at the Floaters. There was even a mahi-mahi seen this last week of February no hook up though. My popper setup is as follows. Shimano Saragosa 18000 spinning reel spooled with 65 lb. super slick Power Pro and a 7’2 Shimano Travala rod. I use an assortment of poppers but Frenzy’s Angry Popper is my favorite. That setup was deadly for many 60-80 pound fish last summer. The fog will continue to be bad here until May so monitor channel 67 in the Mississippi River and channel 13 in the Passes.
