Wildwood Is The Place For Tournaments And Camping
Wildwood Park, on Clark’s Hill Lake (Lake Thurmond) in Columbia County, Ga., has for years been the lake’s most popular staging area for fishing tournaments. Locals know that many of the best events of the year will launch out of Wildwood, and they also know the park has fantastic facilities for the perfect camping vacation.
Locals might like to keep such a gem to themselves, but campers and anglers from across Georgia and South Carolina are realizing what a great destination Clarks Hill and Wildwood Park are for vacationing or vacationing to fish a tournament.
To start with, there is the location. Wildwood is 975 acres on the lower end of Clarks Hill, where it offers quick and easy access to some of the best fishing the Southeast has to offer, for bass, striper, hybrid bass and crappie. More than 60 campsites, all with electric and water hook-ups, as well as primitive camping make it easy and cost-efficient to stay right at the lake. When you’re not fishing, the park offers free Wifi, a beach with a swimming area, hiking and biking trails, playgrounds, a volleyball court, picnic areas and the International Disc Golf Center and Hall of Fame.
When you are fishing, the 6-lane mega ramp at Wildwood makes it the go-to spot for the lake’s biggest and best tournaments. Here’s a rundown of some of the open events being held this spring out of Wildwood:
