Greg Lanthrop, Newton NC, is the big winner of the Win this Kayak! Contest that was offered last year by Coastal Angler Magazine in conjunction with NuCanoe. Lanthrop won a NuCanoe Frontier 12 kayak with a retail price of $1,299 in a contest that was held during the Fall through the end of 2013. Contestants submitted their entries via coastalanglermagazine.com.
“I live between Charlotte and the Blue Ridge Mountains area of North Carolina,” said Lanthrop. I am an Environmental, Health and Safety Technician for Commscope. My interests are fishing, racing and firefighting, not necessarily in that order. I am a certified firefighter, Rescue Technician and EMT in the state of North Carolina and acting Deputy Chief of Bandys Fire Rescue. We normally fish in the Catawba River systems lakes in our area, but whenever we have the chance head to the coast for saltwater fishing, Outer Banks being our favorite spot. “
Lanthrop was pleasantly surprised when he received a phone call last December from Ben Martin, Editor in Chief of Coastal Angler Magazine, informing him of his winning entry.
“We went to Myrtle Beach over Thanksgiving for a mini vacation and planned on surf fishing while we were there. While I was purchasing my saltwater license I noticed a Coastal Angler Magazine on the counter. I picked it up and took it back to my hotel to read that evening. While reading it I saw the ad for winning a Nucanoe kayak so I entered the contest. I was contacted after Christmas by Ben from the magazine informing me I was the winner.”
