Winter Wade Fishing Preparation

Dropping temperatures are just around the corner and with it the water temperature will begin to fall bringing giant speckled trout back into the anglers range. Will your winter wading gear be ready when you are?

Adhesives that seal seams of many brands of waders can deteriorate and give way at anytime due to a number of reasons. Now is a good time to take those waders with you fishing one last time. Put them on in the boat and get in the water. What you actually want to do is wear them for a wade over a couple of hours. It’s cool enough now to pull that off without getting heatstroke.

Make a nice wade for some fall redfish or even better a cast and blast type event anywhere on the Gulf or Atlantic Coast. The movement of walking over several hours will test the seams to make sure they hold up. Better to know now than in January after deer season with 40-degree water temps.

If you’ve had numerous pairs of waders with leaks at inopportune times, you might consider upgrading to Simms’ Fishing Gear. They are made right here in the states for fishermen, by fishermen. Having the right gear in 40 degree water will make sure you can focus on that new personal best instead of a wet cold leg.
