[dropcap]A[/dropcap]s you may know, August is normally one of the hottest months, if not the hottest month, in the Bahamas and so if the air temperature is 95 degrees the water temperature is about 85 degrees. This would be a little warm for bonefish to stay up high on the flats, so most of the bonefish will move down into deeper water. If it is a little cooler or even in an inlet where the water is moving, this area would be much cooler then the still water on the flats. This just means that bonefish will be a little harder to find, but you can find them in the deep water by looking for what we call muds. Some anglers don’t like to fish the muds, but like I always say, the fish change according to the season and a good fisherman adopts to the fish and what they are doing.

I have some good news. It seems like the permit love the warm water, so the chances of getting some good shots at permit in August is very high. In the Bahamas, there is always lots to fish for year round, and here in East Grand Bahama, the fishing is super!
