Nassau Inshore Fishing Forecast – January 2011

January in Nassau is mixed bag of both weather and fishing. The cold fronts are rolling in making for festive days with the fly rod unlike the late spring and summer. A 9-weight is the stick of choice for the winter in the Bahamas. On these challenging days you will have to be sharp with the double haul and bring the low-light glasses for those cloudy days. A good pair of yellow lens glasses is a great addition to any saltwater gear bag and will increase your visibility dramatically in low light conditions. The good news is that larger fish are on the flats and the cooler water makes them happy and hungry. Seems like the cooler the water, the stronger the fight. Between fronts, the weather can be spectacular and the fishing equally so. So come on over to Nassau, fish it like you find it and with a little luck the new year will bring a smile to your face and a great Bahamas fishing adventure.
