April’s currents and weather patterns finally bring some much needed warmer water to South Eleuthera. The water temperatures will go from 75 degrees in the beginning of the month to 77 to 78 degrees by the end of the month. It is only 3 degrees, but it sure does make a difference. Along with the warmer currents also comes my favorite thing about the month of April, sea turtles! Huge, old loggerheads become regulars on sites like Smugglers Plane Wreck and Monolith. Both of these sites are beautiful wall dives, with the lip of the 2,500 foot drop-off being at about 55 to 65 feet. April’s water change also brings in the best odds of spotting some of the larger pelagic sharks, such as hammerheads, tigers, and oceanic white tips. Warm water and endless visibility is just waiting for the adventurous diver that is willing to give South Eleuthera’s uncrowded dive boats and friendly crews a visit. See you soon!!
