Florida Flatsfishing Association’s second event for the 2013 season took place on March 15th with a surprise at the registration for all that registered for the event. Thirty-two and a half teams registered for the event, and when they read their copy of the event rules, they read that there was no 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. checkout on Saturday morning. That meant that after the team meeting at 7 p.m., they were free to start their fishing any time they wanted to, even that night.
Th e 12 noon to 3 p.m. weigh in at either Sebastian Inlet Marina in Micco or the Riverside Café in Vero Beach once again went “smooth as silk.” Here are the winners from the second FLFA event:
- 1st Place – Trout – Mark Dravo and Rick Browning of Fort Pierce – 9.22 pounds
- 1st Place – Redfish – Matt and Mike Canestrari from Satellite Beach – 7.16 pounds
- 2nd Place – Trout – Scott Lockhart and Darren Frost from Palm Bay – 6.80 pounds
- 2nd Place – Redfish – Robert Rohmann and Peter Deeks from Merritt Island – 6.71 pounds
- 3rd Place – Trout – Rob Bunker and Eric Davis from Vero Beach – 7.86 pounds
- 3rd Place – Redfish – Cole and Chris Surrency, Shane Singley from Vero Beach – 6.40 pounds
Two-Fish Slam was won by Mark Dravo and Rick Browning with a combined total of 14 lbs. good for the “RCI Optics Big Fish”.

- 1st Place – Jack Crevalle – Jacob Turner of Indialantic – 2.32 pounds – trophy.
- 1st Place – Ladyfish – Ana Gent of West Melbourne – 1.06 pounds – trophy.
- 2nd Place – Jack Crevalle – Cody Gazda of Vero Beach – 1.36 pounds – trophy.
