November Page #1
My heart is breaking for our Panhandle Floridians, and also our Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia neighbors, and you know, but for the grace of God, it could have come our way. I am so very thankful for our home, electricity in our home, a means to make a living, and most of all, the safety of our loved ones. Does anyone still think that Global Warming is a “hoax”? If you do, take off your red cap, bow your head, and I will say a prayer with you, that you are right.
Immediately upon finishing delivery of October magazines, Cary and I hopped into our ’91 Buick hearse, and drove north to join other like-minded lovers of vintage Buicks, to tour Virginia, near DC. With our Buick family, we visited Mt. Vernon, Fredericksburg, the Marine Museum at Quantico and the new Air and Space Museum near Dulles. Then on our own, on Friday, Cary and I visited the White house. A childhood friend of mine from Chiefland, Chucky Beck, is a Senior Docent at the Capitol, and on Saturday, he gave us the “high dollar” tour of the Capitol. On Sunday, he and his wife invited us to visit them at their river front home in Annapolis. We left on Monday, arriving home Tuesday morning, in time to do a little storm prep, and begin work on this November issue.
Go see Carly (the sweetest girl in Dixie county) for some really cute Girly Girl long sleeve tees at Marine and Lumber Supply, on US 19/98, east of Cross City. See page 7.
In keeping with Dr. McCarthy’s article on stone crabs on page 3, please see page 16 for this month’s recipe, Stone Crab Newburg. Stone crabs are now in season, and will be until next May. Yum-Yum!
See page 9 for Cary’s 2018 gator hunt photos.
We are now in the very best Florida weather of the whole year. Get outside and catch something, and send me your photos!
